Grimsby Town confirm departure of Michael Jolley

Grimsby Town have confirmed on their official club website that they have parted ways with manager Michael Jolley, citing a “recent run of poor results” in their reasoning for his departure.

Grimsby Town have confirmed that manager Michael Jolley has left the club after over 18 months in charge of the club. The Mariners have said that Jolley departs by mutual consent after a poor run of form, with the club without a win in seven matches.

A club statement posted on their official website reads:

“Grimsby Town Football Club can confirm that following a recent run of poor results, it has parted company with Manager Michael Jolley by mutual consent.

“Anthony Limbrick and Dave Moore will be placed in charge as interim manager and assistant manager respectively, starting with our all-important Emirates FA Cup First Round Replay tie away at Newport County on Wednesday 20th November.

“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Michael for his hard work and efforts since joining the club during a difficult period in March 2018 and would like to wish him all the best for the future.

“No further comment will be made at this time.”

Jolley joined the club in March 2018, replacing Russell Slade before helping them to 18th place in the 2017/18 campaign. In his first and only full season with the club, the 42-year-old guided Grimsby to a 17th place finish, winning 16 matches out of 46.

Grimsby currently sit in 18th place in the League Two table, six points away from the relegation zone and eight points away from Newport County who currently occupy the final place in the play-off spots. The club’s attention will now turn to finding a new manager in the hopes that a new boss will help them rise up the table.
