Carlisle United 0-1 Blackpool

Blackpool kept up the pace in the League One play-off race with a slender 1-0 victory over relegated Carlisle.

Karamoko Dembele scored one of the quickest goals this season as he bagged the only goal of the game inside the first minute at Brunton Park.

It was a third win in a row for Neil Critchley's side, who are three points off the pace having played a game more than sixth-place Oxford.

The midfielder needed just 22 seconds to fire the visitors in front as he took Shayne Lavery's ball into his stride before curling home.

Harry Lewis produced a good save to keep out Lavery and stop Blackpool going two ahead inside 10 minutes.

Luke Armstrong saw his header cleared off the line on the hour mark for the hosts.

Down the other end, Lewis produced a good stop to deny Sonny Carey.

Paul Simpson's side slipped to a third defeat in four as they look towards life back in League Two.

Two poor sides produced an extremely poor game. Blackpool support was dire given they can make the playoffs.
Blues home support still holding up.
Let’s see how many we take to Derby.

Carlisle will always be a lower league team. We are an outpost, no one wants to come here, the youngsters want to leave as there’s naff all here. We’d be better off in the Scottish league.

The manner of Carlisle relegation could well carry negative effect on into L2.
That is the biggest concern.
It’s very hard to see many of the current squad being up for the challenge from the start.
We appear to have signed too many average L2 players.

As a pompey fan now living near Blackpool like to see them promoted managed to see pompey in the last game but had to sit in the home end Couldn't get an away ticket

On today's showing Blackpool won't make the playoffs. Except for the first 25 seconds, Defensively Carlisle were up for it. The referee and lino's decisions definitely erred on the Blackpool side Carlisle were denied a stonewall penalty and a last man sending off when Armstrong was shirt pulled with only 2 people out of 7600 not seeing the incident. From throw ins to fouls were hilarious decisions

We'll take a load to Derby because a) there's nothing else to do in Carlisle on a Saturday once you've slept with all your cousins and b) we'll always be there even though some of us boo when other teams take the knee and some of our own players are out on the lash before relegation deciders (Lincoln recently and Brighton almost 30 years ago). Dire support/decent team or vice versa? UTB indeed.
