Striker Joe Taylor says Lincoln City are confident of sealing a play-off spot when League One title winners Portsmouth visit on Saturday.

Taylor scored in the Imps' come-from-behind win at Cheltenham that moved Michael Skubala's side into the play-off spots.

Lincoln moved above Oxford United into the top six on points deference and are one of four sides still in contention for two remaining play-off places.

"We have put ourselves in the best possible position," Taylor told BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

"We are all just looking forward to the Portsmouth game and hopefully other results will work out for us as well.

"If we are at our best, then nine times out of 10 we will beat the rest."

'Give it everything'

A late season surge in form, which has seen Lincoln win 12 games and lose just one of their past 19, has them on the cusp of returning to the play-offs for the first time since they lost the promotion final to Blackpool in 2020-21.

Taylor has played a major role in Lincoln's rise in recent months, having scored 10 goals since arriving on loan from Luton in January.

Skubala, the former Leeds United Under-21 coach who replaced Mark Kennedy at the helm of Lincoln in mid-November, says his side is ideally placed for the high-stakes game against the division champions.

"It is up to us and up to what we can do," he said. "We need to give it everything we have got and it's in our control.

"It'll be a really tough game against the champions, who have been brilliant. They will be relaxed maybe - sometimes that is better but I'm not sure because sometimes it is worse."
